Allowing Healing to Become Transformation

In celebration of the launch of my new website www.vickirebecca.com I am offering free one to one online consultations until the end of June.

Psychotherapy is invaluable in uncovering our deepest feelings and catharsis is crucial in temporarily releasing our pain. These psychological techniques prepare us for the journey of healing, but they often are not enough to lead us through the deeper way of transformation. Healing without transformation risks re-living negative patterns over and over, in the wrong hands even reinforcing them by repetition, rather than truly putting them behind us.

What psychology does well is help us understand how we feel. However, it doesn’t always provide the solution, the how to, I still remember the frustration of having a counsellor tell me what I needed to let go without showing me how. Einstein once remarked that significant problems cannot be solved at the same level of the thinking which created them. Only by rising to a higher or deeper level can an ultimate solution to psychological problems be found.

While we can most definitely achieve healing through awareness and catharsis, our lives may be determined less by past events than by the way we remember them and our cognitive faculties need to catch up with the healing. Memory can be either disabling or enabling. Dr. Viktor Frankl, holocaust survivor and author of Man’s Search for Meaning wrote that

“…everything can be taken away from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms: to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s
own way.”

What we think or imagine in fact is our reality, both individually and collectively. Healing and transformation is possible only through changing one’s perspective from within. It is by making meaning out of memory that true healing and empowerment can occur. What story are you living? How do you choose to remember your story?

Negative Patterns

Negative patterns sometimes evolve for a reason. A child growing up in an alcoholic and/or abusive environment may create a wall around him or her for protection. Such defensive methods may actually ensure surviving emotionally and physically through challenging and threatening times in our lives. Years pass, however, and though now safe, these walls and other defensive mechanisms may sabotage our personal and professional lives. The wall is no longer needed yet it remains. It has become habitual. The first step is to become aware of what we have built around us. What stories we continue to tell ourselves to fortify the wall. Stories from the past live on in us long after the cause or effect is gone.

As a therapist, one of my greatest frustrations is seeing someone achieve the healing and then quit before reaching the transformation. Lack of understanding, lack of cash and often a combination of both, see them off as soon as they get the feel good of relief from the healing.

Yet transformation is not as complicated as we think. I’m not saying it is easy but it is simple. We need to attain and retain the physiological state or energetic alignment of that which we desire to attract into our lives. Doing this comes down to two things: discipline and connection. More specifically the discipline of retaining whatever practice you have chosen for yourself and the connection to the people and places with the vibrational alignment to which you aspire.

Through many years of study as a psychotherapist and a teaching master of Sekhem I have made it my life’s work to offer both of these aspects of spiritual and personal development. As a psychotherapist using hypnosis as my major tool for transformation I have helped countless clients let go of the past through the very elegant system of healing known as Mnemodynamic Psychotherapy

As a retreat leader, I offer the opportunity for both healing and transformation 1-2-1 during VIP weekends and with a group during one intensive yet relaxing week.

As a workshop leader, I offer the same thing spread over 7 months with The Me I Want To Be Classes and my weekend seminars

And of course, the same thing with as many dip ins and reminders as you need is available to everyone through my book – The Me I Want To Be
